Ammonium thiocyanate is a inorganic compound substance with the chemical formula NH4SCN and colorless crystal. Irritating, easily deliquescent, soluble in water and ethanol, soluble in m ethanol and a cetone, almost insoluble in c hloroform and et hyl acetate. Its aqueous solution turns blood red when encountering iron salt solution, but has no reaction when encountering ferrous salt solution. When the dried product is heated to 159 ºC, it does not decompose but melts, and when heated to 170 ºC, the molecules transform into t hiourea. Relative density 1.305. The melting point is approximately 149 ºC.
